Hebrew Theological College Voluntary Resignation of Accreditation
Effective: July 7, 2026
Hebrew Theological College in Skokie, Illinois, voluntarily resigned its accreditation with the Higher Learning Commission effective July 7, 2026.
The institution has indicated that it intends to maintain accreditation as part of Touro University’s accreditation through another federally recognized accrediting agency.

The institution’s status as an HLC-accredited institution changed to the status of “inactive,” meaning that the institution is no longer accredited on the effective date above.
What This Means for Students
Credits and degrees earned from the institution prior to the effective date above remain accredited.
In most cases, other colleges and universities will continue to accept credits earned from the institution prior to the effective date above in transfer or for admission to a higher degree program. All colleges and universities define their own transfer and admission policies. Students interested in pursuing a higher degree or transferring should contact the college or university they plan to attend so that they are knowledgeable about the admission and transfer policies for that college.
