On Tuesday, May 21, sixteen Fasman Yeshiva High School students, enrolled in the Honors Writer's Workshop class, presented original illustrated children's books to first graders at Hillel Torah North Suburban Day School.
Their stories all presented some kind of morality lesson or question which could lead to further discussion. After reading their stories, our students led a drawing activity where the first graders added a little bit to the end of the stories. "Our students overcame some nerves and did an awesome job! The first graders loved it. The Hillel Torah teachers gushed and snapped a million pictures," said Mr. Peter Gobel, FYHS Associate Principal for General Studies.
FYHS thanks Hillel Torah's Principals, faculty, and staff for extending this unique opportunity to our students.
On Sunday, May 19, Hebrew Theological College held its 35th Annual Nachman Patinkin Memorial Scholarship Lecture. Rabbi Dr. Jerold Isenberg, Chancellor, lectured on the topic of, “Prayer for the Welfare of the State of Israel: Prayer, Poetics and Polemics.” HTC thanks Dr. Irving H. Skolnick and Rabbi Melvin Shapiro for serving as Chairmen of this lecture and scholarship award.
