On Purim this year, Hebrew Theological College distributed more than 3400 Mishloach Manos packages throughout the Chicagoland area, including 140 packages that were sent to recipients out of state. This popular community project, managed by Mrs. Naomi Samber, has continued consecutively for 29 years. Each year, Mrs. Samber and her committee seek out new and exciting food items to include in the packages, making the Mishloach Manos a real surprise treat for the community. HTC would like to thank our HTC and FYHS students and parent volunteers who made this project such a huge success.
On February 22, 2014, Hebrew Theological College was proud to host its 33rd Annual Melave Malka to benefit the Sam and Nina Bellows Kollel of HTC. This year's speaker was Rabbi Dovid Kaplan, an alumnus of our Yeshiva and grandson of former Rosh Yeshiva, Rav Hertzel Kaplan z"tl. Rabbi Kaplan is a senior lecturer at Ohr Samayach and noted author of 10 books on Jewish Outreach. Rabbi Kaplan captured a crowd of over 200 in attendance as he talked about bringing joy into our daily lives, illustrated by real life events.
During the program, HTC awarded the Rabbi Herman Davis Memorial Scholarship to two HTC Beis Midrash & College students, Nechemia Gershman from Chicago, IL and Harrison Leventhal from Baltimore, MD. HTC takes this opportunity to thank our chairmen, Shelly Aberman, Zevi Ashkanazy, Jonathan Dimbert and Kevin Greenberg as well as the catering staff at HTC for making this Melave Malka another huge success.
